Mayrhofen-Jochberg-Breitlahner-Schlegeis-Dominikushütte
Length: 25,4 KM - Elevation gain: 1210 m
Starting from Mayrhofen the trail goes into the Zemmgrund. After leaving
town, a street leads you into the canyon. After some spectacular parts we
continue over a well built out road in the direction of Ginzling. Continuing
straight on we enter one of the four tributary valleys of the Zillertal.
What follows is a gravel track which winds up opposite the tollroad.
Nevertheless it brings you back onto the street which leads to the Schlegeis
dam. On the right slope we continue in serpentines to the top of the dam and
in the direction of the Dominikushütte. From there you will have a stunning
panorama over the reservoir and the Schlegeis glacier.
Extension of the route in the direction of the Pfitscherjoch is possible!
Dominikushütte - Zamsergrund - Pfitscher Joch Haus
(Italy)
Lenghth: 6 KM - Elevation gain: 500m
From the Zamsergatterl to the Pfitscherjoch you have to be secure in the
saddle. The route is primarily singletrail, the road however is wide enough.
For bikers with enough stamina and technique the trail, which leads over
rocks and ledges, is 98% drivable. Shortly before the "Joch" you should use
the flat part of the trail to loosen the legs for the last part of the
climb, because this isn't easy. A new road with rough gravel is a last test
for your strength and balance on the bike. After the border crossing and a
moment of recuperation to enjoy the view to the peeks and the panorama you
can retreat at the Pfitscher Joch Haus.
